DAILY UPDATE

Waymo is testing a Gemini AI helper inside its robotaxis to talk with riders and control some car features.

Waymo seems to be working on a new AI assistant powered by Google Gemini for its robotaxis. The tool is not public yet, but app code shows it is built to help riders, answer questions, and make rides feel calmer and easier.

  • The Gemini assistant can answer questions, greet riders by name, and control things like temperature, lights, and music

  • It is designed to speak in simple, short replies and act as a friendly in-car companion

  • The assistant stays separate from the Waymo driving system and avoids talking about real driving actions

This shows how AI is moving deeper into daily travel, turning robotaxi rides into more personal and helpful experiences while keeping safety and trust clear for riders.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT

About 25,000 people want to join a new Trump program to bring tech experts into the U.S. government.

Around 25,000 candidates have shown interest in Tech Force, a new group of engineers planned by the Trump administration. The goal is to place people with AI and tech skills inside federal agencies.

  • The government plans to hire software and data engineers and other tech workers

  • Only 1,000 people will be chosen for the first group, working for two years

  • Recruits will work at agencies like Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, and Justice

This shows a strong push to bring artificial intelligence skills into government work, even as the administration cuts many other federal jobs and focuses only on roles seen as key to national security.
