7 External Traffic Strategies. One question finally answered.

What actually moved your BSR?

Most eCommerce brands running external traffic can't answer that. Wrong channels, no real attribution, and at the end of the month, a dashboard full of activity and no proof of what drove revenue.

The brands getting it right aren't spending more. They've just stopped guessing.

They know which channels pull weight on Amazon listings, which ones look good in a report but bleed budget, and why creator and affiliate traffic consistently outperform paid social when it's set up correctly.

Levanta's free playbook breaks down all 7 strategies. Where each one works, where it falls apart, and what it takes to scale without it becoming a second job. If you're serious about moving your BSR without living inside PPC, this is worth 5 minutes.

Good morning, {{first_name|there}}. The AI buildout just hit something chips can't solve: a governor.

Read time: 3 minutes. Same time, every weekday — rate today's issue at the bottom.

🚀 The Big Story: Texas pulled the plug on new data centers

Governor Greg Abbott ordered a freeze on every new data center grid connection in Texas on Monday, pending a full state audit.

  • The queue is absurd: ERCOT is sitting on 1,800+ projects requesting 474 gigawatts — roughly five times the grid's record peak demand. About 90% of them are data centers.

  • What gets audited: tax breaks received, power generation vs. consumption, water use and cooling, community impact, and who actually owns the facility.

  • No end date: Abbott gave no timeline, and ERCOT has already postponed its Batch Zero transmission planning study. Any project that fails the requirements gets denied outright.

Jason's take: Everyone has spent two years treating GPU supply as the ceiling on AI. It isn't anymore — permits and power are. Texas was the friendliest jurisdiction in America for this stuff, and it still blinked, which means the "compute gets cheap in 2027" assumption baked into every startup deck is now a political bet, not a technical one. Price your roadmap like inference costs stay flat.

⚡ Quick Hits

  • Palantir posted $1.9B in Q2, up 93%. Profit hit $1.1B — more than the company's entire revenue in the year-ago quarter.

  • Amazon crossed $3 trillion in market cap. AWS is now at a $169B annual run rate on AI demand — the fifth company ever to hit that mark.

  • NVIDIA open-sourced Nemotron VoiceChat 11B. It's the first open full-duplex voice model with tool calling, which means real voice agents without an API bill.

  • CrowdStrike says AI-enabled attacks jumped 89% year-over-year. The same report found North Korean actors poisoned 131 npm packages — check your dependency tree this week.

  • MiniMax shipped H3 weights with a geofence. The license excludes the US, EU, UK, and South Korea, so "open weights" now comes with a passport check.

  • OpenAI's unreleased Astra solved 10 open math problems for about $2,000. Fields Medalist Timothy Gowers said he'd recommend one of the proofs to a top journal without hesitation.

📡 Trending on X

  • "Marxist" is the word of the week. Palantir's Alex Karp wrote that frontier labs are trying to "capture the means of production of their purported partners" — and half of enterprise AI Twitter agreed with him.

  • The Anthropic–Physical Intelligence rumor won't die. No confirmation, enormous speculation, and a lot of takes on what a robotics-plus-frontier-lab tie-up would mean.

  • The energy-constraint camp is taking a victory lap. Texas freezing 474 GW handed the "AI is power-limited, not chip-limited" crowd their best evidence yet.

  • Is Astra discovery or theater? Researchers are split on whether machine-generated proofs of open problems count as original math or very expensive search.

🛠 The Workflow: Audit your AI vendor risk in 20 minutes

Karp's complaint is self-serving, but the underlying risk is real: the platform you build on can ship your product. Here's the check.

  1. List every AI vendor you send proprietary data to — customer records, transcripts, internal docs, pricing.

  2. For each one, open their terms and find the training-data clause. Note whether opt-out is default-on or something you have to request.

  3. Ask the real question: if this vendor launched your product tomorrow, how much of your moat did you hand them?

  4. Move anything scoring high onto a model-agnostic setup — your own prompts, your own eval set, a swappable model layer.

  5. Write down your switching cost in hours. If it's over 40, you don't have a vendor, you have a landlord.

Reply with the word "LOCKIN" and I'll send you the one-page vendor-risk checklist I use.
