Artificial intelligence played a major role in job losses across the United States in 2025.
A new report shows that AI was linked to tens of thousands of job cuts in the US during 2025, a year that saw the highest level of layoffs since the COVID period.
AI was linked to almost 55,000 job cuts in the US in 2025, based on data from Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
In November alone, about 71,000 jobs were lost, with nearly 9 percent tied to AI use.
Large companies like Amazon and Walmart were affected, with lower level workers and younger people facing the most pressure as hiring slowed.
This shows how fast AI is changing the job market, pushing companies to pause hiring and cut roles while they plan for the future.
