Google pulls its AI model Gemma after it spread false claims about U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.
Google has removed its Gemma AI model from the AI Studio platform after Senator Marsha Blackburn accused it of spreading false and defamatory information about her.
Senator Blackburn said Gemma falsely suggested she was involved in a criminal case, linking to nonexistent or unrelated pages.
She compared her case to that of Robby Starbuck, a conservative activist who also accused Googleβs AI models of spreading defamatory content.
Google explained that Gemma was never intended for public use, and access via AI Studio has now been suspended, though developers can still use it through API.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of AI misinformation and political bias concerns.
