Disney strikes a big AI deal with OpenAI, unlocking hundreds of iconic characters for Sora users.
Disney signed a three-year licensing deal with OpenAI that gives Sora access to more than 200 Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars characters, while Disney invests 1B dollars into OpenAI.
Sora users will be able to create videos with characters like Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader, and the Avengers, with some creations appearing on Disney Plus.
Disney will use OpenAIβs APIs across its products and roll out ChatGPT inside the company.
Talent likenesses and voices are not included, and Disney also sent a cease-and-desist to Google over alleged unauthorized Disney content.
This shows how fast big studios are moving into AI while tightening control of their IP. It also gives OpenAI a rare and powerful content advantage that competitors may struggle to match.

OpenAI has launched its GPT 5.2 models with faster speed, stronger thinking skills, and better accuracy. The update follows internal worries that Googleβs Gemini 3 was pulling ahead.
The model comes in three levels: Instant, Thinking, and Pro, each built for different kinds of tasks.
GPT 5.2 improves on hallucinations, coding, vision, long context, and tool use compared to 5.1.
