ππ Quick one, and there's a free gift at the end
What AI tool do you LOVEβ¦ but the price makes you wince? π
For me it's Kling and Higgsfield, incredible tools, brutal on the wallet.
I'm a software AI enthusiast running a little community research project: what everyone uses, what's overpriced, and what's missing. No pitch. Nothing for sale.
Here's the deal: it's 4 questions, takes 60 seconds, and everyone who fills it out gets the full results report sent back to them, free, so you'll see exactly what tools everyone else swears by (and what they're ditching).
Drop your answer in the comments too, I will read every one. π

Claude Fable 5 Isn't Going Away!

Anthropic is keeping Claude Fable 5 in paid plans, but with lower usage limits and new pay per use rules.
Anthropic has ended weeks of changing deadlines for Claude Fable 5. Instead of removing the model from subscriptions, it will remain available for Max and Team Premium users at half of their normal usage limits. Lower tier users will receive a one time $100 credit before switching to pay per use.
Anthropic delayed its original plan to remove Fable three times in five weeks because demand was higher than expected. The company said it is investing in more compute to improve access.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman criticized Anthropic's changing plans on X, while competitors like Moonshot AI and OpenAI continue expanding access to their latest AI models.
Anthropic admitted the situation was frustrating for users, but said the new approach is meant to balance demand while more computing capacity is added.
This highlights the growing challenge of keeping powerful AI models widely available. As competition speeds up and new models launch more often, companies may continue limiting access until they can expand their computing resources.

Stop Counting Tokens!

OpenAI says companies should measure AI by the value it delivers, not by the cost of tokens..
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar introduced a new scorecard that helps companies compare AI models based on the useful work they complete instead of per token pricing. The idea is to focus on value for money as businesses try to reduce AI costs.
β’ The scorecard measures reliability, useful output, scalability, and total cost, instead of treating tokens as the main metric.
β’ OpenAI used the DeepSWE coding benchmark as an example, where Sol scored 2.8 points higher than Fable 5 while having an estimated 36.2% lower API cost.
β’ Friar said the key question is whether the value of AI's work grows faster than the cost of producing it.
As companies look for ways to control AI spending, this approach shifts the focus from cheap models to real business results. It also supports the idea that more capable AI models can offer better overall value, even if they cost more upfront.
