Why Businesses Are Choosing Anthropic Over OpenAI in 2026

Anthropic has overtaken OpenAI in paid business AI adoption, with enterprise usage growing fast over the past year.

Fintech company Ramp released its latest AI Index, showing Anthropic moving ahead of OpenAI in paid business adoption for the first time. The report tracks spending data from more than 50,000 U.S. businesses, showing how companies are paying for AI tools.

Anthropic’s adoption rose to 34.4% in April, while OpenAI dropped to 32.3% as overall AI business use kept growing.
Much of the growth came from Claude Code, with Anthropic expanding beyond tech teams into finance, legal, and research work.
Ramp also noted challenges for Anthropic, including recent Claude outages and higher costs compared to OpenAI and some open source models.

This shift does not mean OpenAI is falling behind completely. ChatGPT is still the stronger consumer brand, and Ramp’s data does not include every large enterprise deal. Still, the yearly growth trend shows that enterprise AI competition is getting much stronger, especially as OpenAI increases its focus on business tools and coding products.

Amazon has merged Rufus into a new AI shopping assistant called Alexa for Shopping, giving users a smarter and more personal shopping experience.

Amazon is bringing its shopping AI tools together under Alexa for Shopping. The new assistant replaces the standalone Rufus chatbot and can now help users search, compare products, track prices, and even buy items automatically across devices.

Rufus reached more than 300 million users in 2025 while still in beta, and its shopping knowledge is now part of Alexa.
The new Alexa uses shopping history, reviews, delivery info, past purchases, and previous Alexa chats to give more personalized answers.
Alexa can now compare products side by side, watch for price drops, auto buy items at target prices, and even purchase products from non Amazon stores through Buy for Me.

Amazon is making a bigger push into AI powered shopping, and its huge amount of customer data gives it a strong advantage. But many shoppers are already using other AI platforms for buying decisions, so Amazon will need Alexa to work smoothly with those services to stay competitive.
