DAILY UPDATE

This AI Took Over a Shop

An AI agent ran a real store with money and staff, showing both smart moves and funny mistakes.

Andon Labs tested a new AI agent called Luna, giving it full control of a real retail shop with a $100K budget, a lease, and the goal to make it more. The AI handled everything from building the store idea to hiring workers and running daily operations.

  • Luna created and managed a boutique, including job posts and interviews done over Zoom

  • The AI used advanced models for thinking, voice, and store monitoring through camera screenshots

  • It made some mistakes, like choosing the wrong country when hiring and messing up staff schedules

This shows how AI agents are getting closer to real-world use, but they still have clear flaws. Each new version is improving fast, and it may not take long before systems like this can run businesses with fewer errors.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHT

OpenAI vs Anthropic

OpenAI calls Anthropic’s growth overstated!

OpenAI’s CRO Denise Dresser shared a memo criticizing Anthropic’s business, saying its reported growth is overstated and its strategy is weak in the long run.

  • She said Anthropic is a single-product company in a bigger platform battle, and called its compute shortage a major mistake that limits users.

  • Dresser claimed Anthropic uses accounting tricks to boost its numbers, saying its $30B run rate may be inflated by about $8B.

  • She also said Anthropic’s messaging relies on fear and limits, while OpenAI focuses on a more positive approach, and pointed to strong demand after its Amazon deal.

This shows how intense the AI race is becoming, with companies not just building tech but also shaping public perception. It also hints that both sides may be preparing for big financial moves, like going public, where strong stories and numbers matter a lot.
