OpenAI Launches βOpenAI for Governmentβ and Lands $200M Defense Deal
OpenAI has started a new program called βOpenAI for Governmentβ to bring all its U.S. federal work under one roof. At the same time, it signed a $200 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to help improve national security using AI.
The one-year DoD contract is OpenAIβs first official deal with the Pentagon, based in the Washington, D.C. area.
ChatGPT Enterprise will assist military staff with admin tasks and help build custom AI models for areas like cyber defense.
This program also includes work with NASA, NIH, the Treasury, and the Air Force Research Lab under one government-focused effort.
