We hired one colleague for every department.
Last Tuesday, marketing asked Viktor to write the weekly campaign recap, pull performance from Google Ads and Meta, and format it as a PDF for the exec team. Done in four minutes.
That same afternoon, engineering asked Viktor to review three open pull requests on GitHub, cross-reference with the Linear sprint board, and flag anything blocking the release. Posted to private channel before standup.
At 9pm, ops asked Viktor to draft a vendor contract summary from three Notion docs and send it to the team. It was in #ops by morning.
None of them knew the others were using it.
Same colleague. Three departments. That's what changes when your AI coworker lives in Slack, where your whole company already works. It's not a tool one person logs into. It's a teammate everyone messages.
5,700+ teams. SOC 2 certified. Your data never trains models.
"Viktor is now an integral team member, and after weeks of use we still feel we haven't uncovered the full potential." - Patrick O'Doherty, Director, Yarra Web

DAILY UPDATE
California Just Declared War on AI Job Losses

California is moving fast to protect workers as AI layoffs continue to grow across the tech industry.
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new executive order asking state agencies to study how to protect workers from AI-related job losses. The move came just one day after Meta cut 8,000 jobs while increasing its AI investments.
The order asks agencies to explore policies like better severance pay, stock compensation, worker ownership models, and even forms of universal basic capital.
Within 90 days, California will launch a dashboard to track AIβs impact on jobs. Within 180 days, agencies will also suggest updates to the WARN Act to give workers faster layoff alerts.
By October 15, the state will review how unions are handling AI in labor deals, improve workforce training programs, and explore ways AI profits could support the public.
California is home to 33 of the worldβs top 50 AI companies, making it the first state to officially study the long-term impact of AI on workers and the economy.

OpenAI Just Turned Codex Into a Real AI Developer Assistant

OpenAI released new Codex upgrades that make the AI assistant more powerful for developers and long tasks.
OpenAI introduced a new set of Codex features focused on improving how developers work with the AI assistant. The update adds better app access, long task support, desktop control, and easier website editing tools.
Appshots lets Mac users attach any open app window to a Codex chat using a simple keyboard shortcut, giving the AI access to screenshots, text, and app content.
Goal mode allows users to give Codex a task or objective and let it work on it for hours or even days across the app, IDE extension, and CLI.
Locked computer use and advanced annotation mode help Codex work more independently, including controlling desktop apps while the Mac is locked and making live website edits from simple instructions.
This matters because OpenAI is pushing hard to make Codex a stronger agentic AI assistant for developers. These upgrades improve productivity and give the AI more useful context while working. OpenAI is also trying to stay ahead of competitors like Anthropic, xAI, and Google in the fast-moving AI race.
